True Knowledge is Experienced

The Owned Newsletter #47

Whatup fam,

Today we are going to unpack one of my favorite quotes by Albert Einstein.

He says that “The only source of knowledge is experience

This is an interesting quote to ponder when considering how much access to information we have in modern day.

Let’s explore this further through our questions of the week. 👇

Question of the week 🤔

“Are you just consuming or actually applying information?”

One reason I feel that I didn’t retain 90% of the information I learned in school was because there wasn’t any actionable application involved.

👉 All the knowledge that actually lives in my bones stems from the successful application of the information that was shared with me.

One example of this for me was the successful application of tracking my calories and eating in a calorie deficit with the goal of losing weight. 💪

With a million and one diets out there I first thought that it’s got to be more complicated than just eating a certain quantity of food.

The only way I gained the knowledge that this works is by living it. 👈

I ate in calorie deficit over the course of 3-4 months and lost 40 lbs of fat.

That is how you truly embody that knowledge.

I would say this goes for everything in life.

I’m afraid that with the surplus of information out there some of you are consuming information and perceiving that as a productive act.

Whereas I believe the real value in that information comes from putting it to the test in your own life.

What do you know to be true, because you have lived it vs because someone told you that it is true?

Challenge everything and find out what’s actually true for you. 👈

True Knowledge is Experienced 👴🏻

True knowledge is something personal.

What you really know to be true is undeniable, because you’ve lived it.

And what’s true for me may not be true for you. 👈

So don’t just take my word for it. Try to experience your perceived knowledge.

What is some information that you have intellectually known to be true, but have never gone all in on to find out if it will work for you?

💪 It could be a specific fitness modality.

👩‍💻 It could be a strategy to build a business.

💕 It could be a way of being to cultivate relationships.

So much common knowledge is intellectualized to be true, but not acted upon.

I’m curious to see where your path takes you when you start challenging yourself to actually put information into practice. 🤔

What piece of knowledge do you intellectually know to be true, that you are ready to put to the test through your actions?
